With the eye of a magpie Bonno van Doorn introduced into this environment mundane objects and everyday materials which are often overlooked, as well as strange self-made ‘stuff’.

Some materials that occupy the room seem to have ended up here by accident, or appear to have casually come into existence as some sort of by-product. Others look like attempts at an object with a proper identity but that were never quite realised.

A painting has a particular nonchalance, appearing as though it has been made by chance, through testing a pen or a paint colour. Amongst all this are objects staged on a pedestal as proper art objects, yet they lose their familiarity in connection to their surroundings.

In the end everything escapes identification. Each item is a fragment, provisional, pointing elsewhere. Walking around this environment one encounters the constant surprise of a failed recognition.
